TrackAddix Track Day Format:

TrackAddix offers the Midwest's premier track day experience for riders at  Motorsports Park Hastings.  Since 2003 TrackAddix has been serving area track riders with a full schedule of track day events and riding schools.  TrackAddix is a local organization with over a decade of experience, and we know our local tracks and how to operate SAFE and FUN events here!  If you are a regular TrackAddix rider, THANK YOU for your support!  If you are new to the area, or new to the track, WELCOME and we hope you find TrackAddix to be the track day organization you've been looking for!

If you are NEW to the track as a first-time track rider, your first step is to take the TrackAddix New Rider's School, which we call the "School of Speed". The school is always offered on SATURDAY at any of our full weekend events.  Information on the school is available here: School of Speed New Riders School

Note: If you have completed a school and/or participated in track days at other tracks, you are NOT required to take our school. You are certainly welcome to take it if you'd like, but it's not a requirement.

For RIDING GEAR and BIKE PREP requirements, please see our Tech Requirements. Please note that we operate on a SELF-TECH basis, which means that YOU are responsible for making sure your own bike is ready to operate safely on the track: TECH REQUIREMENTS

** DO NOT SKIP THE SELF-TECH STEP, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH ALL TRACKADDIX BIKE TECH REQUIREMENTS AND IF YOUR MOTORCYCLE IS FOUND TO BE OUT OF COMPLIANCE AT THE TRACK YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RIDE! **

Our Event Formats:

FULL WEEKEND EVENTS:
SATURDAY
"Two Session" Events  (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. & RACES 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
SUNDAY "Open Session" Events (9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)

TrackAddix has always been known as the organization which provides the greatest amount of freedom and the most track time for your money.  That philosophy continues with our SATURDAY weekend events featuring two full 30-Minute sessions every hour, A Group and B Group.  This format give you an hour-and-a-half MORE track time than a typical 3-session event!  And our SUNDAY weekend events are ran as OPEN SESSION days, with NO sessions to worry about, ride as much as you can stand with no scheduling required! The TrackAddix "School of Speed" New Rider Orientation school is offered at the Saturday events, and school students will ride in the B-GROUP track sessions during that day. Please note you MUST attend the School of Speed for your first track day! If you have attended a track school at another track prior to riding at a TrackAddix event then the school requirement is waived.

Riding instruction is available through the FREE TrackAddix Rider Coach program during either session and is especially encouraged for riders in the B Group session.  TrackAddix encourages riders to take advantage of instruction opportunities, but we let YOU choose when you want instruction and when you'd rather just ride and practice what you've learned at your own pace.

Lap Time Guidance:

While lap times are not the only factor in selecting which Session is right for you, we do provide a "benchmark" lap time for you to consider when selecting which Session is right for you.  This would be the lap time you can run comfortably and repeatedly with a good margin for safety.  If you are unsure of which session is right for you, we will be happy to help you decide.  In general if you are significantly faster than this lap time, then the A Group will probably be more appropriate and vice versa.  If you're right "on the bubble" with these lap times, then experience and comfort level with being passed by significantly faster riders will need to be considered when selecting the session.

Lap Time Guideline for A Group Riders:

Motorsports Park Hastings - Under 1:50 lap is the general guideline. Riders in the 1:45-1:50 range are "on the bubble" and could be in either A or B group depending on riding experience and comfort-level in being passed by much faster riders. If you're going faster than 1:45 you really need to be in the A group.

SATURDAY Session Guidelines:

A Group - This group is designed for racers, Advanced track day riders, and faster Intermediate riders who are comfortable with closer passing.

B Group - This group is designed for Novice to Intermediate riders

SATURDAY Passing Rules:

A Group - Safe, clean & courteous passing, no restrictions. The faster you are than the rider you are passing, the more room you need to give them!

B Group - No inside passing on corner entry, minimum 6' margin for all passes. The faster you are than the rider you are passing, the more room you need to give them!

** Special rules for School Group riders in B Group wearing colored School shirts or reflective vests - Please give these riders extra room on passes, and do not pass the School group except on straights. NO PASSING in corners on the school group!

Frequently Asked Questions about Open Session events:

Q) Isn't in unsafe to mix faster and slower riders on the track?

A) Nope.  As long as some basic safety rules are followed, we've proven for over 15 years that it CAN and WILL be safe, in fact there are FEWER incidents at open session events than there are at session events!  The basic safety rules are:  SAFE, CLEAN & COURTEOUS passing at all times by all riders, and our "golden rule" of open session events is: "The faster you are than the rider you are passing, the more room you need to give them".  That's it, if those 2 rules are followed, the fastest racer can be on the track at the same time as the slowest brand new track rider with absolutely no problems.

Q) If I'm a slower rider, won't I be in everyone's way if ride in an open session?

A) Nope.  The faster rider ALWAYS has the responsibility to make a safe, clean and courteous pass, and the truth is that a faster rider has no problem getting around a slower rider as long as the slower rider just stays consistent.  The WORST thing you can do as a slower rider is to think about or worry about a rider behind you.  All you need to do is ride your own pace, hold a consistent line and NEVER look behind you or worry about who is behind you.  If you're not already wearing ear plugs on the track, we highly recommend it!  Not only to save your hearing, but it really does help you relax on the track, give it a try!

Q) What if I'm a newer/slower rider and nervous about getting buzzed by faster riders?

A) If you are a very nervous rider and want to be given even EXTRA room on the track, we offer "New Rider" designated covers to put over your leathers to let everyone know to give you even more space.  All you need to do is ask for one after the registration is finished in the morning and we're happy to provide them.  Remember, all of the FASTER riders once started as SLOWER riders themselves, and we all remember what it was like while we were learning.  We're very happy to make sure that YOU are comfortable as you can be while you are learning as well, and you'll actually find that having the opportunity to see faster riders passing you on the track is a GREAT learning experience and will help you improve.

Q) Is instruction still available at Open Session events?

A) YES!  We ALWAYS offer instruction for anyone who wants it, and ANY of our weekend events, all you have to do is ask, and it's ALWAYS free of charge!  We have a full staff of TrackAddix instructors at every weekend event who are there specifically to help YOU becoming a faster, safer and more consistent rider.  JUST ASK!
